Book Review: My Time by Bradley Wiggins
Title: My Time
Author: Bradley Wiggins
Publisher: Yellow Jersey, 2012
Kate Ramsay reviews the new Wiggins autobiography and tells us why she thinks it's well worth anybody's time...
‘This is a fascinating insight into Wiggins' timeline from joining Team Sky 2010, concluding at the 2012 Olympics. From the outset the book comes across as a very honest account, explaining how he somewhat awkwardly grew into the role of Team Sky leader. Instead of avoiding potentially uncomfortable topics, they're addressed head on. As the story unfolded, all the questions I had were answered – it was exactly what I hoped it would be. Wiggins shies away from his portrayal as a sporting celebrity, and instead explains his role as a lead cyclist of a finely tuned team. In fact, at times it felt like a thank you letter, giving the reader a real understanding of the complexity of the task, the effort and sacrifice required (by many) to put a man on the podium. Race descriptions came to life and I found myself on the edge of my seat willing the team on, despite knowing the outcomes. A great account of how ordinary men do extraordinary things. Bradley Wiggins' My Time is a very good use of your time.’
