Why is there no Sky Ride Birmingham this year?
A spokesperson for Birmingham City Council said:
‘This year we have had difficulties in securing a date and a suitable route so we have regrettably had to withdraw from the 2014 Sky Ride event. Our partnership with British Cycling is particularly important as cycling is one of our identified priority sports and we are working with them to establish a new route and date for the Sky Ride event in 2015. We are also committed to supporting Sky Ride Local rides which are guided by British Cycling Ride Leaders and Breeze rides for women. These are all free and are grouped in levels to suit everyone from beginners, including children, to experienced cyclists.’
If you live in the West Midlands your nearest big traffic-free Sky Ride event this year will be Sky Ride Coventry on Sunday 21 September.
