Sky Ride Local in The Lake District

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.Starting at the Lakeland Motoer Musuem this quiet countryside ride takes you on a circular tour around the tranquil Rusland Valley, taking in local links with the legendary Arthur Ransome (he of Swallows and Amazons fame), including a look at his Hill Top home and a visit to his burial place in Rusland Churchyard.

Additional Information

Helmets must be worn by all under 18's regardless of ride level.
Please make sure your bike is in good working order and bring equipment with you to repair punctures, Ride Leaders are there to help but are not responsible for your bike.
All rides leave at the time stated you must arrive early Ride Leaders will not wait. 

Children under the age of 5 do not need to register and must be in a BSA approved child seat, trailer or tag-a-long.

Meet the Ride Leaders

• Johanna Cleary Hi, I'm Jo, I moved to the Lake District with my family in 2005, because it's such a great place to cycle (and do lots of other exciting outdoor things). I've ridden bikes most of my life, initially for transport, but increasingly for leisure. When I'm not cycling my work involves encouraging and enabling other people to enjoy riding bikes.
• Anna Gray I am a Sky Ride Leader but also a qualified Blue Badge Tourist Guide, so on my tours I like to add another dimension - that of interpreting the landscape through which we are cycling. A little bit of history, geology, local legends and quirky curiosities here and there all adds to the pleasure of a fantastic day out on bikes!
• ANDREW TOMLIN Hi everybody, I'm Andrew! I am and have been a keen cyclist in the Lake District for over 25 years and love 'The Great Outdoors'. Cycling offers the opportunity to stay healthy and fit, as well as seeing nature in this beautiful corner of England. I am, first and foremost, a keen mountain biker - the rougher and muddier the ride, the better! But whether off road or on road, I just love my bike.
