Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Marion Talbot Marion Talbot I took up cycling about 12 years ago, when some colleagues at work suggested a group of us cycle the C2 C. Foolishly I signed up to this despite not having been on a bike for the previous 20 years. I had to buy a bike, practise like mad and felt so proud of myself when I cycled 25 miles without stopping. I hadn't really cottoned on to the fact that the C2C was quite a bit longer!!
I did the ride and felt a great sense of a achievement when I completed it, even though I had to push the bike up some of the really hard hills. I then went on to do other rides with colleagues, including a charity bike ride in Tanzania, which was amazing. My husband decided I was having so much fun, he wanted to join me, so now we go touring together.
I love cycling, and love the feeling of being out on the road, seeing so much more than I ever would if I was driving.
I want to encourage more people, especially women, older women like me, to cycle and look forward to leading rides in Newcastle and being able to share our lovely city with you.

The route, traversing a main highway, isn't the best but once you get into the park it is a good run.
