Sky Ride Local in East Riding of Yorkshire

Come and join this Challenging ride in the beautiful Yorkshire Wolds. We take a circular route out from Longcroft School in Beverley to Cherry Burton, Middleton on the Wolds, Nunburnholme and Market Weighton ending back at Longcroft School. Within 2 miles we'll be out of town in beautiful countryside and we can enjoy riding through the pretty villages of the Yorkshire Wolds. This 30 mile route is mainly on B roads so road bikes are recommended. Perfect for a blast of fresh air and a challenging ride out in great company!

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

Rider Comments on the Route

  1. Paul Massey Sunday 28th July
After a few miles, we agreed to drop behind as it was obvious that we wouldn't be able to maintain the group pace. However, we were sad to see 3 others on road bikes drop out and head back early as we were taking a break at Middleton. The strong wind made it bit of a slog on some open uphill stretches, but overall the route was well chosen. We avoided the section through Warter because it is a bit risky with children. Sadly, that meant we missed Nunburnholme hill. Our shortened route was 33.9 miles, so the full one must be over 35, not the 31 listed. Taking out our 2 snack stops and a short repair, we averaged slightly over 10mph. I'm very proud that my sons were determined to complete the route, even after we'd failed to stay with the group.
  2. Andy Stewart Sunday 28th July
A great ride out, well supervised and a lovely scenic route, well done Sky ride.
  3. Shaun Haynes Sunday 23rd June
no facilities at Longcroft School. You need to lose the main road around Lund - its a fast 60mph zone and its quite busy. Otherwise a nice route
