Sky Ride Local in Manchester

Starting and finishing at the National Cycling Centre, home of Team GB, this 12 mile out-and-back ride showcases the traffic-free Manchester Cycleway (AKA The Fallowfield Loop Line). Being a former railway line, the route is flat and well surfaced, and only deviates onto the road for a short 200 metre stretch. Chorlton Park at the midway point of the route provides an ideal stopping point for some food and drink.

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

Rider Comments on the Route

  1. John Dewhurst Friday 18th July
Great route to ride, but road crossings a bit hazardous, and half way break next to a park bench with no loo was a bit disappointing. Good tarmac pathway.

  3. Samantha Garrity Monday 14th July
A great route, taking in canal towpaths, trails and paths. Fairly easy ride and went at a faster pace than expected. But I enjoyed going a bit faster.
