Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. The Nickey Line is a former railway line converted to a traffic free walking and cycling route. Leaving Redbourn towards Harpenden this ride will offer beautiful open views over the Ver Valley.  The Line crosses over the busy Luton Road on a viaduct towards the newly constructed ramp (2014) up to Ambrose Lane. There is then a nice downhill to join the recently resurfaced Lea Valley Path (National Cycle Route 6) towards Luton before taking country lanes back to the Nickey Line to return to Redbourn with The Hub coffee, cake and bike shop.
