Sky Ride Local in Bracknell Forest

Bracknell’s road network was designed so that motorised traffic was segregated from cyclists and pedestrians. The town’s shared use cycle paths are wide, well-surfaced and superb for family cycling. Experience what the Dutch enjoy so much – ultra-safe, traffic free cycling. Our route explores the cycle network which connects schools, shops, fast food outlets, and arts and sports facilities. In keeping with our Dutch theme – the ride goes through Great Hollands and passes Mill Lane!

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are less than 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Ralph Bagge Ralph Bagge My father was a keen club cyclist who went everywhere by bike. He first introduced me to cycling by sitting me on a cushion on the crossbar of his bike (don't try this at home - please get a child seat!)

I learnt to cycle when I was about five and from the age of seven I rode to school unaccompanied every day, rain or shine. In my teens I enjoyed the independence that cycling gave me.

I've cycled for pleasure and to keep fit ever since - a regular ride is as effective as a trip to the gym, is more affordable and much more fun. Over the last few years I have been using my bike instead of a car for most local journeys. When commuting into London I use a folding bike.

I began leading Sky Rides in Aylesbury and Richmond in 2011. Last year I planned and led rides in Slough and also led some rides from Watford. I am looking forward to my third year with Sky Ride, in East Berkshire. I keep coming back because Sky Rides are such great fun!

I am also fairly active in campaigning for better cycle facilities locally and for measures that enable every day cycling as an alternative to the car for shorter journeys.

I look forward to meeting you on a Sky Ride Local soon.
  • Pamela McMillen Pamela McMillen I enjoy cycling and aim to get out on my bike to enjoy the weather and the local views and countryside as often as possible. I am enjoying riding the new Sky Ride routes and meeting everyone who comes along to a Sky Ride.
  • David Leeper David Leeper I love cycling and enjoying seeing other riders enjoying themselves. I'm looking forward to joining this ride.
I am an ex teacher and currently an Executive coach.
Now semi retired, I enjoy getting out on my bike. During this last winter, I have been enjoying spinning classes at my local gym. Looking forward to sunny days out on the road!

  2. Allan Matthews Sunday 6th July
This was my first SkyRide; and what a pleasant introduction it was to cycling in a group. The route was new to me and I look forward to repeating the ride in a fortnight.
