Sky Ride Local in Leeds

Starting at the scenic Roundhay Park by Waterloo Lake this ride takes us along some scenic country roads through small villages in the north of Leeds.  We will navigate around the perimeter of the beautiful Harewood Estate which includes some small climbs towards Eccup reservoir.  There is plenty of time for stops to take in the amazing scenery and views before making our way back through Alwoodley and into Roundhay Park for a well earned coffee and cake.

At just less that 24 miles you will be surprised just how much you can see of Leeds by bike!  This ride is perfect for anybody who wants to put a few miles in and see just how amazing biking in Leeds is.

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Andrew Boylan A regular leisure cyclist, I ride with the Otley Cycling Club social series and also my family.

  • William Jeavons William Jeavons Hi

I am a keen recreational and commuter cyclist. I am passionate about cycling and I believe that cycling is one of the easiest ways to have fun and get fit.

I like to think that I can inspire confidence in those people who have not been on a bike for a while as well as having a two wheeled giggle with those that have.

I am a National Standards Cycle Training instructor and I have a background in road and personal safety training so you are in good hands!

Sky Ride is a great way to get into cycling! Give it a go!!

    Billy :)
  • David Wood Hi Everyone,
I look forward to meeting you and cycling with you. Maybe we can be real friends?
I am a keen cyclist, and cycling club member.

I worked as a teacher for many years, and have taken school children out cycling on green-ways, canal towpaths and in Dalby forest on many occasions. I have taken them on the Manchester velodrome too.
I want to help others to gain confidence and develop their cycling skills, so that they will really get the same joy out of cycling that I do. I still feel like a kid every time I go out on my bike, which is virtually every day of the year. I have cycled over 60,000 miles in the last 10 years.

Whatever cycling you do, leisure, training, racing, all of it will contribute to your fitness, health and personal well being. The more cyclists we get out, the safer cycling becomes for us all! So, just do! Enjoy!

I have completed many long distance cycle events, including Lands End to John O'Groats, usually doing so to raise money for various charities. I also have completed many Audax events over the years.

I was a competitive short track speed skater for many years and trained on the bike when off the ice, as the same muscle groups are involved.
I really believe in keeping fit as a lifetime pursuit and know really strong and fit cyclists that are well into their eighties.

I enjoy helping others, so maybe I can help you enjoy, learn, gain experience and enjoy better fitness and health. I look forward to working with you for the good of us all!
