Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Ian Hutchinson Hi, I'm a happy go lucky mid 40's keen cyclist. Caught the bug in the summer of 2013 and haven't looked back since. Love getting out on my Giant Defy 3 but only when it's not raining. Not too keen on hills but will have a go at any that are put in front of me. I am very confident on my bike whether it be on empty country lanes or busy city roads.
  • Paul Cheers Paul Cheers Hi there. 2013 will be my first year as a Sky Ride Leader but I'm very much looking forward to it, and can't wait to get out on as many rides as possible with you all.

I've been cycling regularly since 2008. I fell back in love with cycling as a result of the rapid rise in fuel prices at the time and obtaining a nice bike on the Cycle To Work Scheme. The rest is history, and I've never looked back.

I started out commuting to save money, get fit and lose weight, and now regularly take part in Sportives and charity events. I now love nothing more than jumping on my road bike, and hitting the open country roads around my home for a few hours. However, I also enjoy just as much, hitching the trailer up to my hybrid and tootling off around my local cycle paths and parks with my family.

My cycling goals for this year was to complete the Ride London 100 in a respectable time which I did recently by posting a ride time of 4hrs 54mins for the 100 miles; and to get as many of you having fun cycling.

If I can do it so can you, so why not come along an join us, and let's see what cycling has in store for you :-) See you soon. Paul
  • Stuart Beeston Hi i'm Stu

I have been riding now for 20 0dd years, starting with road riding at 13 and i was racing at 15. I was racing both road races and time trials as well as the odd hill climb. I worked in the cycle trade as a mechanic and got into mountain biking when it first took off back in the late 80's. I haven't looked back since, Although I must admit to still owning one of those skinny wheeled things they call road bikes, please don't tell any of my mates.

I raced cross country for a few years before a long break from racing due to work commitments. Even though I was not racing I still rode as often as I could. I entered the racing scene again about 8 years ago. I now do mountain marathons and enduro series races (only for fun though). I ride at least every weekend and as much as I can during the week.

I am currently moving up the leadership tree being a CTC National cycle standards instructor, MBLA Mountain bike leader, Night ride leader, Expedition leader and of course a British Cycling ride leader both on and off road. I live for the outdoors and cycling is my passion I look forward to meeting anyone who is interested in my sport, and enjoy seeing anyone I have introduced to it coming in to the world of cycling.

I have led for British Cycling since the begining of the sky ride program, 5 years ago, and thoroughly enjoy each ride. I did have a break from the Skyride program last year when I say break it was unfortunately do to work. The Skyrides are a great day out and a good way for people to be introduced to the sport. I'm looking forward to bringing the program to Liverpool this year and not just because its closer to home

See you on the day (I'll be the one with the Knobbly tyres).
    Regards, Stu.
