Breeze champions win Local Cycling Hero crown

British Cycling announced the winners of its Local Cycling Heroes awards earlier this week and we're delighted to hear that a couple of our brilliant Breeze champions were among the winners.
This summer British Cycling turned the spotlight on the unsung stars of cycling – the people who give up their time and energy to help and inspire others to get the most out of their riding. More than twelve thousand public votes were cast - a testament to the pivotal role our volunteers are playing in the community.
A big well done to Sandra and Maryam who took the regional titles in the North West and the Midlands, respectively. They'll be invited to a VIP experience at the World Track Championships, Manchester in November:
Local Cycling Hero for the North West: Sandra Green
Sandra has led over a hundred informal bike rides for local women, encouraging them to get into cycling – and enjoy it!

Local Cycling Hero for the Midlands: Maryam Amatullah
Inspiring women who wouldn’t otherwise have got on a bike, Maryam challenges beliefs that cycling isn’t appropriate for women.

We're thrilled that four of our Breeze champions were shortlisted for the Local Cycling Heroes campaign. A big thank you and congratulations to Michele Radant (from Devon) and Lyn Gilbert (from Berkshire) who are also doing amazing things in their areas. At the end of the day, cycling is the real winner.
