Cycle Training
Primary school children in East Riding have the opportunity to take part in bikeability training at their school.
The Council also offers free adult cycle training, suitable for novice riders who want to boost their cycling confidence and more experienced cyclists who want advice on specific techniques such as negotiating tricky junctions. Cycle 4 Life Challenge 2014
The Cycle 4 Life Challenge is a celebration of cycling in the year the Tour de France comes to Yorkshire, promoting healthy lifestyles while offering the opportunity for everyone to take part in a range of cycle related activities and challenges.
June 9th – 13th Schools across the East Riding will be holding a Tour de France themed day/week, supported by cycle, scooting and walking events. In return for a small donation to the charity Cash 4 Kids children can cycle, scoot or walk to school dressed in a yellow, green, polka dot or white jersey to celebrate the different classifications in Le Tour.
June 15th – 21st This week starts with a free Bike Festival at Sewerby Hall, Bridlington on Sunday 15th June. Presenters from Viking Radio will cycle along the promenade to Sewerby Hall to launch a five day, staged ride through East Yorkshire. Visitors to the festival will have the opportunity to take part in numerous cycling activities including Sky rides, Breeze rides, bike try out sessions and obstacle courses.
Over the next five days Viking presenters will cycle across the East Riding to showcase some of the best of the beautiful local landscape, visiting schools who have been working hard encouraging children to cycle, scoot and walk on the way. Presenters will also collect the monies raised during the Cash 4 Kids week.
The Challenge will climax in Goole with a two day Bike Festival. On Friday 20th June all year 6 pupils in the Goole area cycle to Goole High School for a fun day of cycling activities, before cycling back to their schools.
On Saturday 21st June the whole Goole community is invited to take part in a fun free day of cycling events and activities. The day will include Sky rides, Breeze rides, bike try out sessions, bike maintenance classes, cycle demonstration teams and obstacle courses, all held at Goole High School.
