Kelli proves “there is nothing like a Dame..."

Dame Cycling Breeze

We know that buying a bike or getting one repaired can be something of a daunting experience. Breeze’s female-friendly bike shop scheme’ promotes independent traders who  offer a great service to women with straightforward advice.

We caught up with Dame Cycling founder, Kelli Salone, to find out why she set up shop to make a difference within the women’s cycling industry.

Cycling is in the blood

Whilst researching bike shops in the South of England, Kelli, 43, was surprised that women were still a minority in stores. After realising she had the power to change it, she quit her job to focus on making a difference. Blood, sweat and tears have gone into developing and making a shop and online community that caters and supports women through their cycling journey.

Kelli said: ‘I set up Dame Cycling to give women the best possibly choice and sound advice from a woman to a woman. The name Dame Cycling was chosen for the increasing number of sporting women who have become Dames and also for the definition of the word – a woman of authority and power.’

Dame Cycling

Based in Hannington, Swindon, this female friendly bike shop will reach out to women who love cycling with a fab selection of women’s clothing, bikes and accessories that will help women get the best out of their riding.

‘The difference between Dame Cycling and other online retailers, other than the female focus, is the information hub on the website. Our online community will give you direct access to experts and pro riders alike, where you can ask a question or advice and get a direct response.’

Dame Cycling has already received raving reviews from those in the industry, including Anna Glowinski (AnaNicoola designer and founder) who said: ‘Excited to see a store that has been designed and passionately created by a female cyclist, for female cyclists!’

Having just trained to become a Breeze champion, Kelli is looking forward to start leading Breeze bike rides from her shop.
