A number of training courses are available to residents of Blackburn and Darwen:
Cycle Training at Witton Park
Beginner, intermediate and advanced sessions running each week at various times. All sessions are led by a qualified instructor and attendees will be provided with a bike and helmet. Commute with confidence
Say goodbye to traffic jams and rising fuel bills by learning to ride on the roads with Blackburn with Darwen Council. Free cycle training courses available to improve your confidence and practical on-road cycling skills. Training is delivered one-to-one or in small groups. Bikeability
A level 3 cycle training course aimed at commuter cyclists is available across the borough, if you're keen to build up your on road cycling skills this two hour course could be for you. The course is delivered by a national standards trained instructor and can take place at a location and time suited to participants within Blackburn and Darwen.
The course covers a variety of skills:
- Preparing for a journey
- Understanding advanced road positioning
- Passing queuing traffic and hazard perception
- Understanding driver blind spots
- Reacting to hazardous road surfaces
- How to use roudabouts and junctions controlled by traffic lights
- Multi-lane use and sharing the road with other cyclists
- Cycling in groups
