Sky Ride Local in Lewisham

A great circular route for a Sunday ride. We set off from Lewisham and head down towards the Thames before following the river around Surrey Docks and Rotherhithe. There are great views across to Canary Wharf and lots to see along the Thames Path before we turn back for home.

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Stuart Thomas Stuart Thomas Hi, I'm Stuart a Ride Leader for the South East of London. I'm a cycle commuter and enjoy leisure rides at weekends, evenings and whenever I get the chance (including a night ride from London to Brighton earlier this year!).

I feel passionately about the benefits of cycling and am proud to be an ambassador for a fantastic sport, a wonderful leisure, social and family activity, and an economical, eco-friendly and reliable mode of transport.

Look forward to meeting you on a SKYRide Local ride soon :)
  • Mehmet Mulla Mehmet Mulla I've been cycling from a very young age and now do a mixture of exploring and commuting. I think Cycling is a great way to get active, have fun and get/stay fit. Beyond recommending it i like to promote it through various means including being a ride leader.
  • Jonathan Bangs Greetings, fellow cyclists.

I enjoy riding in the countryside and on the track at Herne Hill Velodrome. I commute by bicycle, too.

My aim is to encourage people to ride their bikes, either on their own, or with others, with confidence and enjoyment.

I look forward to meeting you in the months ahead.

    Please take care when riding.

    Regards,

    Jonathan
  • Anthony Tavernier-Gustave I am a very confident rider who commutes to work three times a week and enjoys leading rides.

this was vary so nices at the cafe we stop at was really good!!!
  3. Helen Capamagian Monday 22nd August
Always a bit disappointed when we are told the ride will be 7 to 8 mph and then we ride at 10+ mph. My son is 5 and over this distance it is difficult for him to maintain the speed. A good route though and we enjoyed it.
