Sunday 6th July at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Old Wirral Hundred Pub Capenhurst Lane CH66 2BY
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 15 mins  (2 hours 15 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Cheshire West and Chester

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

Come and join us on a lovely flat (ish), circular route of 24.5 miles around the West Cheshire countryside.

We will be using National Cycle Network Route 56 and tarmac roads to enable us to take in the sights of Capenhurst, Neston, Parkgate, Thornton Hough and the Lama and Ostriches on the way back to Capenhurs.
Quiet roads and lots to see, a perfect way to spend a few hours on a bicycle !

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Ian Gent Ian Gent Hi, I'm Ian, I've been a keen cyclist and mountain bike rider for many years. This is my 4th year as Sky Ride Leader. I've got a good knowledge of the local ride routes. I'm equally happy doing road or trail rides that can be 5 or 50 miles, so can help you to enjoy your Sky ride whatever your level of cycling. Sky riding is about having fun on your bike in a safe environment - so book on to a ride and have a very enjoyable day out
  • Mark Staker Mark Staker Hi,

I'm Mark, am 38 years old and am far from being the physical shape of a pro rider! I enjoy riding, whether it is Mountain Biking, or Road Riding. This will be my first season as a Sky ride leader, having recently qualified. I have been riding for longer than care to remember, and enjoy riding with mixed ability groups.

I look forward to seeing you on a ride soon.
  • Colin Goodman Colin Goodman Hi All,
My name is Colin Goodman and I will be one of your ride leaders today.
I have been cycling since 2008 after 25 years of not even owning a bike and I am hoping that you will all get the bug the way I have. At 6'3" and 17 stone, hills are not my friends, but ridden with care and a steady pace I seem to get there eventually. My idea of a great ride is to be safe and have fun, so again I am really looking forward to us riding together.
Thank you for signing up to this ride.
    Safe riding, Colin.
