Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
1 hours 0 mins  (45 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Breeze Bike Rides in St. Albans

Blow away the cobwebs and join me after the school drop off for a “Bricket Wood Loop”.

This is a circular route starting from the Children’s Centre Car Park at Mount Pleasant Lane School and taking us around 1 hour. Enjoy a sociable and fun ride before carrying on with the rest of your day.

Starts the 1st Friday after the Easter Holidays and then every other week until the end of term.

You don't have to have a child at Mount Pleasant Lane school to attend this ride, just come along to the starting point and find me there. Please note that if you're driving to the starting point there is limited street parking and there is no access for you to park in the Children's Centre or the school staff car park. So leave plenty of time to find a parking spot!

Although this is a relatively easy ride, it's worth noting that Bricket Wood has a number of hills, including Mount Pleasant Lane itself which we'll need to cycle up.

This route is a mixture of road cycling and cycle paths, but we'll get away from the busy Mount Pleasant Lane as quickly as possible.

Things to bring:

A bottle of water
A shower proof jacket is useful
Puncture repair kit if you have it.

Children under 5 are welcome as long as they're in a child seat, tag-along or trailer.

This will be my last Friday ride until the schools are back open in September. So we may well make this one a special event such as a longer ride with a café stop. More details closer to the time.

Meet the Champions

  • Heather Allen Heather Allen I'm Heather and, like many others, I first enjoyed cycling as a child and when got to secondary school I used to be the only girl cycling in!

After the age of 18 and after learning to drive a car, the bike took a back seat for many years. I decided to give cycling a go once I had school age children. Our school is a 20 minute cycle ride from home, so I organised myself with a bike and a trailer and haven't looked back since. We've used a trailer, and then a tag-along and now the boys are cycling themselves.

As a family we often cycle around Watford on the various cycle routes for fun, usually encompassing a park and a picnic with ice-cream!

I'm passionate about getting more women to cycle and I look forward to meeting you on my gentle cycle rides around the Watford / Bricket Wood / St Albans areas
