Sky Ride Local in Bradford

Not cycled for a while and looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle? Fancy a fun way to get your friends or kids riding? Our Easygoing rides are great for building confidence for all abilities and ages along relaxed, mostly traffic-free routes. They’re up to six miles long, with a gentle pace of around six miles an hour.

Join us on this easy 4.8 mile ride on the Spen Valley Greenway between Bradford and Cleckheaton. This greenway ride boasts great views and trail-side sculptures in a traffic-free environment, starting out at Victoria Park on Cleckheaton Road in Bradford.  The greenway follows the path of the former Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway – keen-eyed individuals will spot the LYR boundary stones and other artefacts from this line.

It has recently been converted into a dedicated cycle track, part of Sustrans National Cycle Network Route 66, from Dewsbury to Low Moor.  The current track is a freshly laid one and is a nice, steady route with not too many uphill challenges. There’s a stopping point at Tesco in Cleckheaton, where you’ll turn back for Bradford.
This ride uses part of National Cycle Network (NCN) route 66. To find out more about the NCN and other great places to cycle near you everyday, go to the Sustrans website (http://www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network).

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Anthony Weston Anthony Weston Got back into cycling 15 years ago after a lifetime of football and running took its toll. Competed in road racing, time trialling and triathlon I have been fortunate enough to do some of the classic Tour de France mountain routes and others across Europe which are just breathtaking. Most of all though I just love getting out in the fresh air on my bike.., any bike! Most of our holidays are spent seeking out some of the beautiful cycling routes across Britain as my wife will testify!.
As a triathlon coach and Sky Ride Leader, it gives me the opportunity to put something back into sport where I have had so much support and encouragement over the years.
Look forward to you seeing you and chatting on the next Sky Ride.
Its always all about the bike!
    Tony
  • Nicki Woods Nicki Woods I started cycling three years ago on a Breeze ride and I am now a regular cyclist. I guarantee that you will thoroughly enjoy yourself and get fitter to boot :)
  • Satwant Singh Satwant Singh I enjoy cycling and would like to share my the joy of cycling with others.

Even though it was a ride easy as it was on the flat and traffic free it could of been better if it was a bit longer,
