Sky Ride Local in Slough

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.
Starting in Herschel Park Slough, the ride takes us south through Datchet Village and along the river Thames, over Albert Bridge to Old Windsor. We then climb Crimp Hill and enter Windsor Great Park through Main Gate. The ride then takes us through the park, skirting Virginia Waters and joins the A30 for a short bit of fast road work before re-entering the park near Saville Gardens. We continue through the park to a refreshment stop at The Village Cafe before leaving the park for Windsor. Crossing the Thames into Eton, we enter Slough from the south and return through Victorian Herschel Park to the start point.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • David Williams David Williams I love getting out on my bike everyday whether it be as a cycling instructor, a spin around the park or a hitting the hills in Surrey or North Wales. My son seems to have caught my enthusiasm but he's only 7 and doesn't like hills, yet.
Welsh rugby loving referee, gourmand and wine imbiber, reluctant gardener and budding photographer.
  • Julia Hodkinson Julia Hodkinson Hi, I'm Julia and I've been a keen cyclist for many years. I got into "proper" cycling through triathlon, which I've been doing for over 15 years and now that my knees stop me from running much I find that cycling is a perfect way to keep fit, enjoy the great outdoors and make friends. I live near Windsor where we have fabulous cycling opportunities from casual cycling along the river path, Dorney Lake, and Windsor Great Park, mountain biking in Swinley Forest or longer road trips into the Chilterns and Surrey Hills. I'm looking forward to showing Sky Riders our beautiful countryside.
