If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
This 11.4 mile loop starts at Southampton Common, heading north on quiet roads to the Forestry Commission site at Lordswood along a Roman Road route, discovering Iron Age earthworks. There's plenty to see along the way, including the Hawthorns Urban Wildlife Centre on the Common, the Warrior's Memorial dedicated to a horse who served in the First World War. • Paul Knox-Johnston Paul Knox-Johnston I have been cycling for many years and have been involved in commuting from Whiteley to Chandlers Ford on a daily basis. I also regularly participate in various sportives, toured in France and have completed the JOGLE this year. I am passionate about cycling and just love getting out there into the countryside.
  • Andy Beckett Andy Beckett Relatively new to cycling, I started in 2012 to get fit, and caught the cycling bug. I now cycle at every opportunity.

Cycling did a great job of getting me fit. This summer I'm cycling from Lands End to John O'Groats and it all started with some 5 mile rides about 18 months ago
