Sky Ride Local in Nottingham

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. This route starts at Nottingham University Lakeside café and circuits the beautiful boating lake before heading out on the Big Track along the canal towards the city centre. Passing through the city centre the ride then continues to meet the River Trent where views of the Forest Ground can be seen. The ride then goes along the River Trent towards Beeston where you really will see how beautiful the parts of the river are. You will then rejoin the canal to complete the circuit before heading back to the university, where you can enjoy a well deserved refreshment.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • James Willcox I've been cycling for leisure for as long as I can remember. Over the years I've dabbled with all forms of bike riding, including a brief foray into Downhilling! I'm excited to help people get more involved with cycling and share some of the experiences I have gained.
  • Joanne Castle Joanne Castle Hi,
My name is Jo, I am 46 years old and am a keen leisure cyclist.
Unfortunately, i can only ride assist at the moment as i don't yet have a first aid certificate, but i am working on that one for next year.
  • Robert Bradshaw Robert Bradshaw I first learned to ride at the age of 5 years and grew up believing that cycling was just a form of transport. Having parked my bike up for the last time as a teenager (cars were the new substitute) it took over 30 years for me to ride again. Having become grossly overweight I again took to two wheels. I had forgotten the sheer joy of being out in the fresh air tootling round country lanes often with like minded people. I now regularly commute, ride with Dinnington Racing Club, enter Sportive events and ride all year round just to get out! I'm no racer nor climber but do love to ride and chat with like minded people whilst moving through our glorious countryside. Here's hoping to see you out on a bike soon!
