Sky Ride Local in Nottingham

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour. This is a steady ride of just over 10 miles - this route starts at one of the City Centre's Park and Ride station on Wilkinson Street. The cycle route will take you along some of the extensive cycle networks going North of the City centre. Starting with a ride along the River Leen towards Bulwell, and then following route six of the National Cycling Route up towards Bestwood Country Park. Whilst in the park there will be a loop of Mill lakes taking in some of the lovely surrounding scenery. The returning route continues along a hidden cycle path along Hucknall Road demonstrating a direct 'off road' route back into the City.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Lesley Taylor Lesley Taylor Hi everyone, I love cycling and cycle somewhere just about everyday. There is something about being out on the bike, and on country roads in the fresh air. I am really looking forward to leading organised rides whether they are a leisurely cycle out or a bit more challenging.

I will look forward to meeting you soon!
  • Dominic Sweeting Dominic Sweeting I work for Sustrans promoting cycling and active travel in Nottingham's secondary schools so I cycle most days. I live close to the city centre so most of my journeys are short commuter rides but I do try and get out on evening and weekends for longer rides whenever I can. I would like to take part in longer rides for pleasure and fitness and have a go at other types of cycling sports including MTB
