Sky Ride Local in Barnsley

Come along and expect a really warm welcome for this sociable friendly bike ride.  A gently undulating traffic free meander along the Trans Pennine Trail as we ride around the beautiful surroundings of Old Moor and Manvers Lakes.
There is a wide variety of wild flowers and wildlife to see.  Swans, geese, coots, moorhens and other winged beauties making lots of noise as they busily feed their young.  We will stop for a short break at the Manvers Lake Cafe, where we can look out over the lake for swans and geese along with other waterfowl as they beat their wings on the water to prepare for take-off.
On our return to the RSPB Old Moor Wetland Centre, if we fancy we can browse around the visitors centre and shop for souvenirs or sample the delights of the cafe.
Not cycled for a while and looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle? Fancy a fun way to get your friends or kids riding? Our Easygoing rides are great for building confidence for all abilities and ages along relaxed, mostly traffic-free routes. They’re up to six miles long, with a gentle pace of around six miles an hour.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Steve Wilson Steve Wilson I have been cycling on and off for most of my life, and often commute to work in Barnsley on the Trans-Pennine Trail. Cycling is something that we can all enjoy, at pretty much any age, and at all levels of fitness. It is great to meet new and existing riders enjoying the sport, and hopefully I'll see some of you on one of our Sky Rides.
  • Christine Blanco Christine Blanco
  • Christopher Moore Christopher Moore I've ridden bikes for as long as I can remember & regularly commute to work on a racer, whilst playing off road at a weekend on my mountain bike.
I enjoy helping people 'get into' using their bike and look forward to riding with you soon.
