You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.
Join us on this 23 mile undulating ride with a mixture of history, culture and beautiful views.  Starting at Wakefield's inspiring new Hepworth gallery we make our way to the midpoint of the ride at the world famous Yorkshire Sculpture Park.  Along the way we also visit the 13th Century Sandal Castle scene of some famous battles and rich in history. But that's not all; we visit some beautiful countryside and climb to get some fabulous views of the area travelling mostly on country roads. So with a bit of history, culture and great scenery throughout, this really is a ride not to be missed!

Rider Comments on the Route

  1. Ian David Bangay Sunday 27th October
Interesting route with some hills to test. One that could be tackled later in pieces, for those who want to take in some good sites.
  2. Steve Valentine Sunday 25th August
Excellent ride. Although when it says bike suitability, it should say that hybrids with road tyres are a minimum, I wanted to take my road bike but didn't as I wasn't sure it would be suitable.
  3. Steven Kerr Sunday 25th August
Pleasant ride little effort for the moderate hills good route if wanting to increase mileage, break at YSP helps it worth the ride out and don't forget the wonderful ride leaders
