Route Description

Sky Ride Local in Southampton

Not cycled for a while and looking for an easy way to get back in the saddle? Fancy a fun way to get your friends or kids riding? Our Easygoing rides are great for building confidence for all abilities and ages along relaxed, mostly traffic-free routes. They’re up to six miles long, with a gentle pace of around six miles an hour.

An opportunity to cycle 'traffic free' around the first public realm space created in the city centre for decades, Guildhall Square. The beautiful route takes in Andrews Park where you can see its Wisteria covered arbour, impressive fountain and statue of its namesake. There are also the poignant memorials to the engineers who stayed at their posts aboard SS Titanic when she sank 100 years ago, and those who lost their lives in the wars. This is a great urban exploration for families and people new to riding looking for a gentle flat ride.

  • David Penny I am a family man and I work as a Safety Advisor. Most people ask why do I ride? And I tell them: Its a cheap form of transportation. Its good for the environment. It keeps me fit and healthy. But most of all its FUN and its something all the family can do together.

  • Kieran Kenny Hi my name's Kieran, I got the cycling bug again about 3 1/2 years ago when my father in law took about doing Lands End to John O'Groats for his 60th by himself over 3 weeks. It really inspired me to dust off my old bike and get out there, Within minutes I was hooked again and that was only 1 small ride. Since then I have been commuting 12-15 miles everyday and I absolutely love it, I am always looking for ways to get out and about even more on my 2 wheels. So grab your bikes and join us this summer.
