Facilities
The Cycle Hub
The Cycle Hub provides cyclists in Newcastle a place to meet and chat over cake and coffee. It’s a great place for a pre-cycling caffeine kick or the perfect post-pedalling pit stop, or a venue where you can drop by to get your bike serviced or give it a tweak.
Whether mountain biker or Bmx’er, single speed aficionado or road purist, everyone is welcome. It’s also an information centre for all cycling related things in and around Newcastle, from guided rides, cycle training, transfer services and local clubs.
Newcastle Gateshead Initiative
The Newcastle Gateshead Initiative is your one-stop-shop for that’s going on in Newcastle and Gateshead. With so many different areas each offering new sights, sounds and experiences, you’ll be amazed at how much is on offer whatever your tastes. It supports local cycling opportunities as well as the area’s world-class culture, vibrant nightlife, award-winning dining and inspiring heritage.
Cycle parking
Once you get where you are going you’ll want to be sure you can park your bike safely. Cycle stands have been installed across the city centre. Most of these are plain Sheffield-type stands, so it’s always wise to bring your own lock.
If you want to cycle in the city centre but feel you live too far to bring your own bike, think about travelling in by public transport and using a hire bike to get around. View scratchbikes for details.

Newcastle is making big improvements across the city for cycling.
With £5.7M from the government’s Cycle City Ambition Fund, a dedicated cycling budget and major improvements to the city centre for pedestrians and cyclists, the city is determined to create a cycling culture across the city where everyone can get on their bikes.
