Get Behind Your British Cyclists

Get Behind Your British Cyclists

2012 is going to be an amazing year for cycling and schools across the country have got on board with this great competition!

As our amazing British cyclists get ready to put years of training into practise and represent their team on the international stage, young people across the country have used creativity to show their support – and win some fantastic prizes.

To enter the competition, student created inspirational, good luck messages of support to show our cycling stars that the nation is right behind them – using an art medium of their choice, including photography and video for 12-16 year olds.

Schools up and down the country got behind our British cycling heroes and over 1,000 entries were received. Now it’s time to start dishing out the prizes to the lucky winners – prizes include goody bags, digital cameras and the amazing chance to take your class to the National Cycling Centre, meet BMX Champion Shanaze Reade and have a go on the BMX Track!

Teachers made the most of the free resource kit that was offered with the competition; using it to introduce the competition into lessons, as part of a cross-curricular project, through a dedicated Art Club, or as pupil-led assignments.

Thank you to all schools that took part in this great competition, your support is helping us make cycling the most supported sport this summer!
