Sky Ride Local in Preston
There's nothing like popping out for an ice cream on a summer's day, but this 21 mile ride from Preston into the villages of the Fylde coast really pushes the envelope. You'll start at the UCLan Sports Arena and head out on an anticlockwise loop through the Fylde villages, with your compass set for the village of Elswick, the home of the famous Bonds Ice Cream Shop, where you can sample a well earned ice cream sundae, before looping back on quiet lanes through Roseacre and Lea Town back to Preston.

Hello - I'm Helen - I've been a keen cyclist for many years but took some time off whilst my children were small. Now the kids are older we are now enjoying family rides and help at a local childrens cycling club. I am also involved in ladies bike rides were we are trying to get ladies either back into cycling or introduce them to it as a new sport/hobby.

Hi all, just a little about myself and my passion for cycling. I am a regular commuter travelling just under 6 miles to work and 6 miles back although I do often find myself adding a few extra miles to my return journey. I use a mountain bike to commute. At weekends I like to ride my road bike and aim to complete approx 50 miles on each trip although I am hoping to build on that distance throughout the year. I also intend to compete in a couple of sportives this year if time permits. I hope that by performing the role of assistant leader I can help you to make more use of your cycle, get fitter and get that smile on your face that comes when you meet a personal challenge.

I am a regular enthusiastic amateur cyclist. I don't belong to any cycling clubs, the majority of my cycling is done with friends/work colleagues who enjoy cycling too. I mountain bike in the North West - Lake District/ Rivington in particular - and can often be found on my road bike around the Bowland Fells. I enjoy all aspects of cycling, mostly the oportunity to get out with others who enjoy a similar passion and spend time in the countryside.
Comments on the Route
I loved this exhilarating ride - It was a great route with the added bonus of an ice cream stop (enjoyable even though it was raining!)
Can't wait for next years skyrides.

nice long route completed easily at swift 10-12mph pace, headwind and rain slowed us down but other than that really good.
