Royalists, Rings and Romans

Sunday 31st March at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Vine Hill car park opposite St Stephens Church, Kingston Lacy BH21 4ED
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
2 hours 0 mins  (1 hours 20 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Bournemouth

If you’re fairly confident on your bike on dirt and gravel surfaces and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Off-Road Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, there is barely a metre of tarmac in sight on these rides so come and enjoy the scrunch of gravel and the squelch of mud under your tyres with us! Rides are between 6 and 15 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

This is a real history trip touching many eras. Starting in sight of the lovely St Stephen's Church, we circle National Trust property Kingston Lacy on wide bridleways with beautiful countryside views.  We then go on to visit Shapwick village via country lanes before climbing up and around Badbury Rings to observe the mile long Beech tree avenue planted as an anniversary present for the Lady of the Manor.  Join us on this 9 mile off-ride that really is the jewel in the crown!

  • Rob Hammond
  • Rob Doyle Rob Doyle This is my first year as a Sky Ride Leader. I currently work at Ferndown Leisure Centre where I organise and run the Bikeability (National Standard Cycle Training) programme which I love. The Sky Ride scheme allows me to be able to encourage more people to cycle more often in an organised but relaxed and enjoyable environment.
My own cycling generally takes part on my Mountain Bike where I enjoy going off road to Moors Valley and to Poole, and often over the chain ferry at Studland. I have also taken part in various charity bike rides on my road bike.
I look forward to welcoming you on a Sky Ride and hopefully encourage you to get out on your bike with friends and family.
