Architecture Ride

Sunday 21st July at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Bike Park Town Hall Square LE1 9BG
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 20 mins  (2 hours 40 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Leicester

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

See the best of Leicester's civic architecture on this sensational eight mile circular ride starting in Town Hall Square.  Our route takes in a wide range of styles and periods which make up our city's outstanding architectural heritage.  Additional stops en route make the most of our tour.  Visual treats from your bike seat include: the clock tower, Lee Circle car park, Belgrave Neighbourhood Centre, the Guildhall and Cathedral, the University Engineering Building and the Jewry Wall and Leicester's Roman remains.  A fascinating route on largely suburban roads and some packed shale paths.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Peter Simmonds Peter enjoys cycling many miles each year. He commutes to meetings across London on a folding bike, tours with camping gear and rides the rural lanes all over the Midlands..

Skyrides aim to get more people out on their bikes. More cyclists will mean safer streets, better health and less pollution. Cycling brings some risks but these are outweighed by the benefits to people. The Sky Ride programme is designed to deal with these aspects, too. So - give it a try. If you are reading this because you have signed up for the ride - looking forward to meeting you there.

  • Linda Goddard Linda Goddard Hello,
I am passionate about encouraging people to get on their bikes. I see Breeze rides and Local Skyrides as a way to do this and to provide fun at the same time. I particularly want to encourage more women to get in the saddle!
Cycling is not only a way to get fit, but is also good for the environment. Think of the petrol saved!
It is also a social activity, where you can make new friends and be encouraged along by other riders.
My aim is to support both new and returning cyclists to gain the confidence to cycle more often.
I look forward to meeting you on the rides.
    Linda
