You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.
Starting and finishing at The National Cycling Centre, home of Team GB, this challenging but leisurely paced out-and-back ride follows quiet country lanes through the Medlock Valley before passing through the outskirts of Daisy Nook Country Park and over Hartshead Pike, where you'll feel a world away from the hustle-and-bustle of Manchester. There's a well earned refreshment stop in the picturesque village of Uppermill before enjoying the route back to the National Cycling Centre and the home of British Cycling.
