Carrington Circular

Sunday 15th September at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Manor Avenue car park Urmston M41 9JZ
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
2 hours 20 mins  (1 hours 40 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.
Hybrid (off road tyres)

Sky Ride Local in Manchester

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

A fantastic circular route using parts of the Trans Pennine Trail and some little used packed shale tracks over Carrington Moss. Our 11 mile ride also takes in quiet country lanes to the west of Altrincham where you'll find a great cafe stop at the Red House Farm Tearoom.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Allan Roberts Hi I'm Allan,I did my first ride in 2010 the Manchester City Ride. After that I was hooked I've done at least one ride every weekend since. Met some nice people and made some good friends. Second year as a ride leader and looking forward to it
  • Christine Huggins Hi, my name is Christine i took up cycling four years ago after going to Wales with my family for a holiday, we wanted to see more of the views and what a better way than get on a bike, well from that day on i was hooked. When home went on the net to find local cycling clubs joined the cco (cycling club oldham ) then came across sky ride, enjoyed the rides so much thought i would like to become a ride leader by doing that more people like you can enjoy the rides.
  • Debbie Fordham Hi there, welcome to your Sky Ride, I hope you are looking forwards to your forthcoming ride with us.
I am a keen cyclist, I have always had a bike, but within the last 4 years, I've taken to the sport with great passion. Completing many Sky Rides before I became a Leader, of which I have been for 3 seasons now. I am the proud owner of both a hybrid & road bike (of which I have just treated myself to a new one!!!). I completed the first Great Manchester Cycle 52 miler, last year and again this year, both in good time, along with the M/cr to Blackpool in Jul 12 and Jul 13, my next challenge is already in my sights. Yet I enjoy going off road on the trails to, but not the cleaning of my bike afterwards. I get out on my bike as often as possible with different groups. You don't have to be able to do these miles to ride, but this could be the start of it. My aim is to get more people (of all ages) back on their bikes, to have fun, as well as remaining safe and to pass on some knowledge and tips.
I enjoy the group rides as they give me the opportunity to meet new people and participate in an activity that I enjoy with like minded individuals.
So welcome..... & lets go riding.
Looking forwards to seeing you soon.
  • Ian Gent Ian Gent Hi, I'm Ian, I've been a keen cyclist and mountain bike rider for many years. This is my 3rd year as Sky Ride Leader. I've got a good knowledge of the local ride routes. I'm equally happy doing road or trail rides that can be 5 or 50 miles, so can help you to enjoy your Sky ride whatever your level of cycling. Sky riding is about having fun on your bike in a safe environment - so book on to a ride and have a very enjoyable day out
