Haigh "Halloween" Heights

Breeze Bike Rides in Wigan

PLEASE NOTE that the route has changed slightly and this is now NOT Traffic Free.

As is the tradition of Breeze Wigan this will be the Halloween ride where dressing up as witches, ghouls, goblins, skeletons and all things scary.

Why not come along to this leisurely paced cycle along traffic free cycle paths and canal towpaths is approximately  10 miles in total.  This bike ride goes along cycle paths/canal towpaths/quiet roads and whilst it is suitable for hybrids and mountain bikes there are some sections of the canal which may have experienced rain so we might encounter few bumps and puddles along the way.

The scenic route will now avoid Haigh Hall all together but will still have a cafe stop at the Orchid Room. There will still be the climbs as we get to the rest stop as well as downhills to take us back to the start point.   This is a social ride and we will have plenty of rest stops and ALWAYS ride to the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind.

Helmets are advised to be worn during the ride and also wear suitable clothing taking account of the weather.  It's advisable to bring along an inner tube just in case of punctures as it isn't always easy to fix on the trail with a puncture repair kit.

Children are welcome on this ride but all children must be accompanied by an adult taking part and MUST wear a helmet or will be unable to take part in the ride.  Children must be able to ride their bike confidently on cycle paths, along the canal towpath and quiet roads.

There will be an opportunity to buy a drink and snack at the cafe so please bring some money along if you wish to use the cafe.

• Sandra Green Hi I am Sandra Green, I have been riding for a few years on a mountain bike but have always found myself tagging along with guy groups. I have recently branched out in to road riding having completed my first sportive late in 2012. This is my second year as a Sky Ride Leader and I really enjoy meeting new people, trying different routes and getting out with like minded people on a bike. I have also been running Ladies Only Breeze rides in Wigan for the passed three years and always keen to get more ladies out on a bike, enjoying the social aspect as well as getting fit and meeting new friends. • Louise Head Just over a year ago I was looking to join a cycling group. I saw the TV advertisement for sky rides - where will your bike take you? I joined in and throughly enjoyed the rides. I was introduced to Breeze rides by a skyride leader - since then I've never looked back, fun, friendship and fitness. The rides have been so much fun. I've met so many lovely people and my fitness has definitely improved! With a bit of gentle persuasion from Breeze Champion Sandra, I have trained as a Champion and I'm looking forward to meeting you and riding alongside. That's where my bike took me.
