Sky Ride Local in Leicestershire

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
Come and join us on the most unique Sky Ride Local ride in Leicestershire. This ride will transport you and your bike on the Great Central Heritage Railway from Quorn to Rothley. After your trip on a vintage steam train we will take you on a leisurely ride back from Rothley to Quorn.
We will need you to meet at Quorn station at 9.40am to be sure that you have enough time to meet with our Ride Leaders, take a few pictures and board the steam train ready for a prompt 10.09 departure (the train will not wait for us).
A goods carriage will be added to the train for us to store our bikes safely and refreshments will be available to purchase on the train. The train will initially take us south to stop briefly at Leicester North station, before we turn around, and return north for us to alight at Rothley station at approximately 10.55.
After collecting the bikes from the goods carriage, we will start our 9.5 mile return ride to Quorn station on a lovely rural route travelling through Swithland village, Swithland reservoir and National Cycle Route 6.
Please book your spot now to secure one of the limited spaces on this ride, but please remember that payment for your train ticket is required in advanced.
