Starting Point & Postcode
Loughborough Leisure Centre Browns Lane LE11 3HE
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
2 hours 10 mins  (1 hours 30 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Richard Faulconbridge Richard Faulconbridge Hi, I have been cycling for 3 years after a knee operation. I have since completed numerous Sportives and also commute 2-3 times a week when work and family life allow. Last year (2012) I also completed the London 2 Paris bike ride, which was brilliant fun. I just want to help people get back out on their bikes and enjoy the freedom cycling can give you.
  • Robert Robinson Robert Robinson When I retired from my business at Christmas 2011 (just over 50 years as a Barber), I felt that I needed something to keep me active, so I decided to volunteer in order to put something back into the local community.

I have an easy manner around people, as my occupation was first chatting to customers and second cutting their hair! I have a good knowledge of local cycling routes and I am looking forward to leading sky ride’s in the area .

I joined Sustrans in 2012 as a Volunteer Ranger, covering the area from Ravenstone in Coalville to Wilson, near Castle Donington - most cyclists will have heard about the Cloud Trail which goes to Derby (Sustrans route No.6). This year I took on the role of Area Co-ordinator for Sustrans West Leicestershire, covering the area from Stoke Golding on the Warwickshire border to Wilson, on the Derbyshire border.

I am a fit and active person,my interests have always been outdoor-based, and I enjoyed taking part in several sports - at a non-competitive level! I have also helped to form two walking clubs, one in Ibstock (which still meets occasionally) and a walking club for single people, which is still running. I have had lots of experience in leading walks and cycle rides in the past. I have recently completed my British Cycling Leader Course so that I can be involved in leading cycle rides in the County.
  • Steve Hayward Hi
I'm Steve I have loved bikes since I was 5 when I got my first set of wheels and have continued to ride since then. I ride for the fun of it and love to encourage others to get involved with cycling, I get involved in challenge rides when I can. I have completed rides such as coast to coast, Glasgow to Edinburgh and London Paris as well as numerous charity challenges such as the Princes Trust Palace to Palace rides the Loros and Rainbows rides and British Heart Foundation rides. You will find me on my bike most weekends enjoying the local sites through Sky Rides as well as just being out there on my bike. I look forward to meeting you on the Sky Rides or at one of the cycling festivals that happen around the county.
