Starting Point & Postcode
Cassiobury Park Car Park Gade Avenue entrance WD18 7LG
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 25 mins  (2 hours 25 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Watford

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

As part of our winter riding programme we have scheduled a number of guided rides near you which are all about getting the best out of winter riding.  This route is perfect for getting out on the bike and warming up on a fresh winters morning!  Everybody who books on and attends the ride will receive a FREE Great Britain Cycling Team water bottle.

A challenging circular ride out from Cassiobury Park to Bovingdon. Within just a few miles we'll be in beautiful countryside taking in views of the countryside and many local pubs and cricket greens. The 26 mile route is mainly on roads so road bikes are recommended. Perfect for a blast of fresh air and a challenging ride out in great company!

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Brian Johnson In 2010 six of us decided to ride in the Norwich 50 challenge bike ride. That started my interest in cycling and since then I've cycled through stunning scenery in the Outer Hebrides, Scottish Highlands and along Hadrian's Cycleway as well as progressing to the Norwich 100 challenge ride.

I cycle to enjoy the scenery, as an enjoyable way to exercise and for good company and I'm looking forward to helping others find enjoyment in cycling.
  • Chris Brewerton I've been cycling all my life and enjoy all modes of cycling from pottering about on Forest tracks in Mid Wales to a good sprint on French roads, to tackling the mountains of Mallorca for their rugged beauty. I've done many of the London based charity rides to Windsor, Oxford and Cambridge and five times London to Paris.

I believe everybody should experience cycling at least once to discover the friendship and freedom it brings and I want to share my knowledge and experience to help others of all ages and backgrounds to overcome their fear of the road, gain confidence in themselves and discover their true potential through the hugely popular British Cycling Sky Ride programme. Why? Because it really works and you'll be coming back for more.

What do I do when I'm not cycling?

I spent 2012 volunteering at the London 2012 Paralympic Games where I helped to prepare the Opening Ceremony and went on to perform in that fantastic show. My claim to fame? I painted the steps round the Olympic cauldron in sparkly paint.

I have since set up a Legacy choir and currently chair Vision choir working with singers, dancers and drummers from the four London 2012 Ceremonies to get them performing again in the QE2 Park, working with Live Nation, Notting Hill Carnival, the Thames Festival and the BBC.
