Sky Ride Local in Torbay
You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.
Come and join us on this picturesque ride which takes in both banks of the River Teign. Heading north out of Torquay we will skirt around Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton before starting one of our two climbs up to Bishopsteignton, before descending into Shaldon to reward ourselves with glorious views and visiting the riverside village for refreshments.
After our stop we will start our way home by heading inland towards Combe-in-teignhead before turning south and starting our climb to Barton.
Once we are over this final climb we will be rewarded with some well deserved freewheeling downhill all the way to the finish. This is a great ride for less experienced riders to challenge themselves on in the company of other cyclists, the hills are tough but worth the effort.
Make sure you have good working gears on your bike for this ride and be prepared for tough hills
