Breeze Bike Rides in Watford

Bring your bikes, your children and a picnic and enjoy some outdoor fun during the summer holidays.

After meeting at the Meriden Community Centre we'll take a gentle pace along cycle paths to the Watford Cycle Hub in West Watford. This is a safe route along cycle paths which children should be able to enjoy, all ages are welcome but it is worth noting that the route takes around 45 minutes each way.

We plan to stop at the Watford Cycle Hub for around an hour and a half to give us plenty of time to enjoy our picnics and for the children to have some fun with some games / activities.

Then it's back along the cycle paths to the Meriden Community Centre.

Additional Information:

Helmets are advisable but not essential for adults, however must be worn by all under 18's.
Children under the age of 5 do not have to book and must be in a BSA approved child seat, trailer or tag-a-long.

Bringing a bottle of water, a waterproof jacket and a little money is always useful (Tea & coffee is available at Watford Cycle Hub for a small donation).

If wet then we will be able to picnic indoors at Watford Cycle Hub.

Meet the Champions

• Heather Allen I'm Heather and, like many others, I first enjoyed cycling as a child and when got to secondary school I used to be the only girl cycling in!
  
  After the age of 18 and after learning to drive a car, the bike took a back seat for many years. I decided to give cycling a go once I had school age children. Our school is a 20 minute cycle ride from home, so I organised myself with a bike and a trailer and haven't looked back since. We've used a trailer, and then a tag-along and now the boys are cycling themselves.
  
  As a family we often cycle around Watford on the various cycle routes for fun, usually encompassing a park and a picnic with ice-cream!
  
  I'm passionate about getting more women to cycle and I look forward to meeting you on my gentle cycle rides around the Watford / Bricket Wood / St Albans areas
• Veronica Chamberlain I am 57 and have been riding bikes all my life. I am really keen to see more women riding and enjoying the freedom, fun and exercise it gives. Cycling should be a normal part of everyday life, for everyone.
• Theresa Hughes I am fairly new to cycling and I started out on sky rides myself a couple of years ago to build my own confidence, learn new routes and make some great friends. I mainly enjoy riding for leisure and my approach to cycling is about finding a route which involves good scenery and a nice cafe! I am looking forward to making sure all the sky ride participants have an enjoyable and fun time on their bikes.
