Northumberland Lanes

Sunday 20th October at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Wheatsheaf Pub Restaurant, Woolsington, NE13 8DF
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 20 mins  (2 hours 20 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Mark Lant Mark Lant Hi I am 45 and have only been cycling since 2009, I used cycling to lose weight and I managed to drop 4 stone in 12 months, still like my kebabs and pizza though so I have to work hard on the road to keep the weight off.

I have have taken part in a London to Paris charity ride and completed the Raid Pyrenees. I love riding abroad as the roads are better and the drivers treat cyclist better; however it is getting better here in the UK.
  • Roger Clarke Roger Clarke Hi,

I've been riding a bike all my life, from gentle rides and touring with my Dad, to racing in road races at university and later in time trials.

But don't worry, these days you'll mostly find me on a social club ride to one of the many great cafes around Northumberland! Let's face it, the best thing about cycling is being able to eat lots of cake :-)

I'm also secretary of Tyneside Vagabonds Cycling Club (the North East's friendliest cycling club!) so if you enjoy the rides and want to take it further then you know where to come ;-)

Looking forward to meeting lots of new riders for a potter around the lanes!
  • David Jones Hi,

    Welcome to the Skyrides!

I am a 42 year old who has been cycling for just over a year. I started to lose weight but now enjoy just getting out and about on the bike. I am usually out on either the mountain bike or road bike most days.

I have completed the C2C and the Virgin cyclone .

Book on a Skyride and it could be the start of a new cycling adventure, a new fitter you or just a good place to meet like minded friends.

Enjoy your ride and hope to see you soon.

    David.

Ride was brilliant but the weather was awful. Special thanks to the ride leaders leading the ride in such condition. Will continue to join more skyrides in the future.
