The Warwickshire Wanderer

Sunday 1st September at 10.00am This is what time the ride will set off. It’s best to get to the starting point at least 15 minutes beforehand to avoid missing the start.

Starting Point & Postcode
Brueton Park car park Warwick Road B91 3HH
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
3 hours 10 mins  (2 hours 30 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in Birmingham

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

A fairly challenging 24 .5 mile tour of the quiet, rolling Warwickshire country lanes. Starting and finishing at Brueton Park near Solihull, the route takes you south west on quiet lanes to Tamworth in Arden with the first pub stop at The Bell, before continuing to the second canalside stop near Kingswood. Then you'll savour more of Warwickshire's lanes, beloved of many a West Midlands bike rider, before returning to Brueton Park for the finish.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Mir Zaman Mir Zaman Hello everyone, This is my 3rd year being involved with these rides both as a participant and as Ride Lead. I enjoy cycling in general to keep fit and try to include at least one long ride per week. As for this ride - I look forward to meeting you and sharing the same experience. We'll have some fun out on two wheels for a change and at the same time get a breath of 'fresh air'...
Ride Well with Care and always remember to Keep Safe if riding on the road..!!!
  • Elaine Slatter Elaine Slatter Hi my name is Elaine and I am a Sky and Breeze ride leader. I have always been quite a sporty, outdoors type but my passion has changed from the gym and walking to cycling in the last year.
I signed up to the cycle to work scheme last February and started commuting to work. I soon started to feel all the benefits of a daily dose of exercise and fresh air and found a local women only cycle club who I could ride with a few times a week. After nine months of cycling I’m proud to say I managed my first 100 miler.
Now i’m happy to encourage other people and I think both Sky and Breeze are fantastic incentives to get people out cycling, whatever your level.
I look forward to meeting you on one of the rides.
    Elaine
  • Colin Reed I used to ride my bike a lot as a young boy and really enjoyed it. Much later I taught my own children how to ride. And occasionally I used to cycle commute in London. In 2011 I decided to get fit and began riding my bike 5 miles to work. The fresh air every morning was fantastic. Yes it was a little hard at first, but after a few weeks it became easy. After a few months I went out one day and cycled more than 10 miles! That gave me enough courage to try some easy bike rides with a cycling club and I rode further than I ever imagined! I loved cycling through the quiet countryside soaking up the beautiful scenery. So I finally caught the cycling bug!! Since then I've done many club rides, a few sportives, and two charity bike rides including 450 miles from Paris to Birmingham. In the last 2 years I've come a long way - it seems unbelievable - but if I can do it, anyone can!! I look forward to seeing you on a ride soon!

Rider Comments on the Route

  1. Gary Barton Sunday 1st September
This was my first skyride and I can totally recommend it. Elaine (slatter) was a first class leader, she kept the group at a steady pace but made sure every one could keep up and helped make it a fun afternoon. The fun and banter between the leaders and the group was brilliant.
