Sky Ride Local in Milton Keynes

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

Starting from Stantonbury Campus car park, this 28 mile ride is along country roads through Salcey Forest to the attractive market town of Olney. On the way we'll have time for a stop at the Forest Café and, after spinning through the well kept villages of north Bucks, we'll reach Olney before returning under the arched gatehouse of Tyringham Hall and past the Blackhorse lakes to Stantonbury.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Anthony Smith Anthony Smith I've been a keen cyclist for over 2 years, riding 2-3 times per week up to 100km. You will most likely find me out on my road bike training for a sportive of some description! At more relaxing speeds, as a family we have a trailer bike for our 2 year old and like to take her for a picnic by the lake or visit the many parks in MK.
  • Liane Higham Liane Higham Hi, I have been cycling for a few years now and love it, I have completed Sportives in the UK & abroad including Cape Argus, P2P & C2C. I ride a Road Bike & 29'r MTB bike as well as a tourer/crosser for coaching. I really love getting more people out on their bikes to have some fun, get fitter & feel great. I qualified as a Breeze Champion May '12 and lead regular rides for a great group & have 'newbies out most weeks! My rides are great for those who own but rarely ride their bikes due to lack of confidence and worries about traffic/fitness etc. Our rides are mainly on cycle paths and country lanes around Northampton & always involve a coffee & cake! I also lead Breeze & Skyrides in Bucks & Beds. I'm also a cycle coach & teach Bikeability in Northants Schools and am currently looking forward to a touring/camping holiday this year as well as some fun holiday activities with Go-Ride!
  • Alan Sanders Alan Sanders I've been riding regularly for 20 years (and sporadically before that) and if I could then I would ride my bike every day. I commute to work every weekday and I ride my mountain bike as often as I can. Living in Milton Keynes we are blessed with a fantastic 'Redway' cycling network which links seamlessly with purpose built bridle ways and on out into the beautiful countryside that surrounds us and I feel that it is something in which we should all be proud of and encourage others to use as much as possible. Being a SkyRide Leader now gives me the chance to share my passion with others.
