Sky Ride Local in Leicester

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour.

This ride will take you back to 1485 and the end of the Plantagenet dynasty.  Starting in the centre of Leicester you will pass the site of the car park where King Richards’s body was discovered.  Using mainly quiet roads and traffic free paths you will arrive at the hamlet of Sutton Cheney and the Church where, legend says that the King took his last communion prior to the Battle of Bosworth.  From the Church it’s a short ride to the site of the Battle.  Returning to Leicester we finish at the Richard III visitor exhibition.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Tony Lenihan Tony Lenihan If you’ve got this far then you are well on the way to joining me on a Sky Ride and having a great time!!
I’m Tony and I have been cycling all of my life-in fact I can’t remember a time when I haven’t owned a bike. Or two. Or three! My philosophy is simple-cycling is all about having fun.Losing weight, getting fit, making friends, feeling a sense of achievement and helping the environment are all happy side effects of that.
If you are a new or returning cyclist then I know it can be a bit daunting, but cycling is the most accessible sport-you really don’t need to spend a fortune on a bike, or be a vision in Lycra ,or even know your chain from your cranks-just come along, join in and enjoy yourself .I guarantee that,as you ride along there will be a point, with the sun on your face and a few miles under your belt ,when you break out in a smile without even realising it!
Sky Rides are a really great way of getting some fresh air and racking up a few miles in a safe environment with qualified Ride Leaders alongside you all the way
Hope to see you on a ride very soon
