Starting Point & Postcode
Hambleton Leisure Centre Stone Cross DL6 2UZ
Overall Duration On a long ride, it’s sometimes good to have a little break in the middle, or maybe a catch up at the beginning or end to keep it sociable. This means that the overall ride duration may be longer than the actual cycling time.
1 hours 45 mins  (1 hours 15 mins cycling)
Bike Type You probably don’t want to drag your road bike across bumpy trails. Maybe you want to make the most of the suspension on your mountain bike. This helps you match your ride to your bike.

Sky Ride Local in North Yorkshire

Come and join us on this circular route out to the lovely village of Danby Wiske from Hambleton Leisure Centre.  This route will take us north out of Northallerton using quiet roads where possible before a short section on Darlington Road brings us to Northallerton Rigg.  From here there is a steady climb for about half a mile before we have the pleasure of descending into Danby Wiske along Danby Lane.  We will have the opportunity to stop for a bite to eat and a chat at the half way point in Danby Wiske, but please make sure you pack a snack and a drink as refreshments are not available in Danby.

From Danby Wiske we will use Mounstrall Lane to loop us back round to the start point and you will feel  right out in the countryside as we pass by the farms, fields and cottages.  You will notice the roads get slightly busier as the ride nears its finish and we head from Yafforth back to Hambleton Leisure Centre.

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
