Sky Ride Local in Knowsley

Travel through quite country lanes to the village of Hale, where you can discover the birthplace of John Middleton known locally as the Childe of Hale. It is said that at 9 feet 3 inches he was so tall that he had to sleep with his feet out of the bedroom windows. After visiting his home we pass the 14th Century church of St. Mary's where he is buried before we arrive at the Lighthouse for a break, after which we travel back to Halewood on quite country lanes.

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Peter Boardman Peter Boardman Hi Guys

This is my second year as a Sky Ride Leader and I can't wait to get going again. I have been out clocking up the miles with my Social Cycling Group over the winter and the toes have been very, very cold. I think we deserve some warmer weather again and quickly so we can get out doin what we love.

I am looking forward to meeting up with you all on the sky ride local rides in Knowsley, Liverpool and Chester and I hope that I can inspire lots of people to get involved and use your bikes as often as possible!

If you have any questions, then please feel free to contact me!

    Happy Cycling

    Peter
  • Julie Anne Parker Julie Anne Parker Hi I'm Julie Anne

I purchased a bike about 4 years ago and never dreamed that at size 18 i'd be able to cycle 35 miles with ease...but I did!
My favourite ride is the 4 borough challenge - Liverpool, Halton, Knowsley and Warrington but alas I work Full time so i'm just as happy squeezing in an hour on a nice Summer's evening!
Come and join me if you want to improve your fitness, enjoy a cheap day out and have a natter and giggle with friends!
Looking forward to meeting you...Let's make the most of Summer 2014. Please be warned, it's highly likely that i'll take atleast 1 SS (Shameless Selfie) on a ride!
  • Robert Gaffney Robert Gaffney Hi my name is Rob, I have recently just passed my Level 1 Leadership and Level 2 Route planning courses. I have 3 bikes in total a road, hybrid and mountain. I mainly use the road bike now and last year competed in a charity ride from Liege to London. We rode 340 miles in 3 days and watched the Tour de France in Liege. I commute to work every day on the bike and get out most weekends and days off. I like the speed of the road bike but also like getting off road when I can. I'm looking forward to getting out with Skyride now. Please feel free to email me if anybody would like to buddy up for a ride, cheers Rob.
