Sky Ride Local in Nottingham

You don’t have to be the next Bradley Wiggins, but you’ll need to know your way around a bike and be fairly fit to take part in our Challenging rides. If you’re comfortable riding with other people and fancy a fresh challenge, these rides are perfect for you. They start at around twenty miles long, and are paced at between 11 and 12 miles an hour. This route starts from Djanogly Community Leisure Centre, right next to the Forest REC Park n Ride. The route travels through quieter urban roads, before opening out onto beautiful quiet suburban roads leading to the picturesque grounds of Newstead Abbey and Gardens. Ancient trees, beautiful lawns and lakes are a wonderful reward. Cafe and visitor centre, and on the way back, the Griffin's Head in Papplewick provides a lovely stop for a possible pub lunch before the return to Nottingham.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Ian Talbot Ian Talbot Hi everyone, my name is Ian Talbot (but most people know me as Tabby) and I am 49years old. I have cycled all my life and just love the freedom it gives me. The picture shows me on the col de croix de fer celebrating Wiggos amazing tour victory. This is my second year as a Skyride leader and having had a fantastic 2012, I am really looking forward to meeting lots of new people and sharing some new adventures with you all.
