Sky Ride Local in Glasgow

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.
This 19.7 mile route heads north and uses a mixture of terrains - along canal paths, a few roads and even an old railway line.  The amazing countryside, views and the quiet of the paths make this an interesting yet challenging ride.  The route has its ups and downs along the way but the final views over the city of Glasgow make it worthwhile. There is one section on a busier road, but all other road riding is on quiet country roads.

*The route advertised may be subject to slight adjustments due to the Commonwealth Games.

Meet the Ride Leaders

  • Paul Middleton Paul Middleton This is my fourth year as a Ride leader and
Cycling has been one of my main sporting passions, along with snowboarding and football. Having been introduced to cycling by my brother-in-law who was a Commonwealth track and road rider, he was a good teacher. Once I bought a second hand road bike I was hooked on the bike and never looked back. Having cycled in many Locations both in the UK and Europe this has given me some great memories and the chance to meet some great folk. Cycling for me now is the commute to work, going out with friends at the weekend and sportive rides.
Here's to another great year with Sky and British Cycling, and I look foward to seeing you all on a Sky Ride soon.
  • Leslie Horton Leslie Horton I volunteer/work at Freewheelnorth,a cycling charity for people with special needs, based on Glasgow Green.

I have cycled extensively in Scotland and Europe and I cycle almost daily either for fun or to the shops.

I have been an assistant ride leader on several Skyrides and have enjoyed them all.
