Sky Ride Local in Liverpool

If you’re fairly confident on your bike and ready to broaden your cycling horizons, our Steady rides are ideal. At a comfortable pace, and possibly with some modest hills along the way, rides take place on mainly quiet roads with plenty of sights along the way. Rides are between 6 and 20 miles long, at a moderate pace of between 7 and 10 miles an hour.

There are lots to see in this flat, gentle ride along the world-famous Liverpool waterfront. The ride begins at the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Albert Dock, passing Merseyside landmarks such as the Echo Arena, the Royal Liver Building and the new Museum of Liverpool, and across the water you'll see the expansive Cammel Laird shipyard. We meander south following the River Mersey towards Otterspool along the gorgeous setting of the promenade. From there we cycle through Cressington and the suburban streets around the docks. As we return back to the riverside we cycle through Speke Garden Coastal Reserve to the National Trust property Speke Hall where we schedule a lovely refreshment stop in the idyllic grounds. At Speke Hall you'll be able to park the bike, indulge in refreshments at the Stable Tea Rooms and enjoy the sanctuary of the beautiful scenery.

Speke Hall is a rare Tudor timber-framed manor house in a most unusual setting on the banks of the River Mersey. Restored and brought back to life in the 19th century, it is a unique and beautiful mixture of Tudor simplicity and Victorian Arts and Crafts' aesthetics. For more information please visit http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/speke-hall/

From there we return via the seafront, detouring through the magnificent Festival Gardens, admiring all the flora and sights it has to offer. We return back to Albert Docks to complete a truly superb 19.5 mile cycle along the iconic River Mersey.
