Loads to do at Sky Ride Ipswich

Having a laugh

Sky Ride Ipswich on Sunday 8 September is a great opportunity to join in a huge traffic-free bike ride – but even if you don’t want to join the ride, there’s plenty to do on the day.

As well as cycling around the 5km route as many times as you like between 11.00am-3.00pm, there’ll be a range of free entertainment and activities to enjoy throughout the day.

Have a go at some high adrenalin Rollapaluza racing, make a smoothie on a bike, and get all the information about brilliant local routes and rides. Kids can try their hand at competitive cycling in the Go-Ride skills area. And don’t miss the chance to find out about the Tour de France winning Team Sky in their special fan zone.

Enjoy a coffee and a snack at the British Cycling Bike Cafe, and find out about Sky Ride Local and loads of other local cycling opportunities.

Halfords cycle experts will be on hand – so whether you’ve got a wonky handlebar or a rusty chain, pop by and see them – or keep an eye out for their roaming teams on the route.

In order to make the event as accessible for everyone as possible, there will also be a range of adapted bikes available from Alderman Road Park during the day from the following organisations:

  • BikeActive – a local community group offering trial rides and information on their regular local cycling activities
  • Quest 88 – a national provider profiling a range of adapted and bespoke machines
  • Cycling Projects – a national charity offering adapted bikes for hire.

And don't forget Sky Ride Ipswich is just part of a weekend of brilliant cycling activity – find out more and make a weekend of it!
