Barking & Dagenham is a great place to cycle, and now there are even more opportunities to get out and about on your bike in the area.
Awarded ‘Outer London Biking Borough’ status from Transport for London, the council commits continual investment and development to its Greenway network, provides safe, dedicated cycle routes within parks, open spaces and along waterways, culminating in a pleasant fun cycling experience for all the family.

British Cycling can help you to find a club that’s right for you. Use the club finder link to find a club near you. There are some great cycling clubs in Hull who'll be happy for you to come along and ride with them, including:
The newest and most innovative inclusive and active social cycling club in London and the South East. Affiliated to British Cycling, this club caters for all riders, and is especially proud of its fleet of adapted bikes, trikes, tandems and recumbents that are available for members to come and try – giving them the opportunity to experience various different forms of mainstream and adapted machines and cycling disciplines.
The club is based at Mayesbrook Park Arena (athletics track).
We hold a weekly drop-in session every Tuesday between 10.30am and 8.00pm catering for all ages and abilities. Just £2 for a session.

Mayesbrook Park Social Cycling Group
Tuesday Evenings 6.00-8.00pm to enjoy leisurely bicycle rides across the borough and beyond.
The group was set up in early summer 2012, providing an opportunity for individuals to be part of a leisure cycling group, gain fitness, new skills and confidence with the bicycle, in a fun social environment. The group is led by Russell Coe, founder of Vandome Cycles and a Qualified National Standards Cycle Trainer and British Cycling Ride Leader. Russell has since gone on to lead the group on additional weekend rides through the Lea Valley, Rainham Marshes and to the Olympic Park.
New members are always welcome; whatever your previous cycling experience, we can provide the training and skills needed to enjoy these leisurely rides. Free Dr Bike
Free Dr Bike sessions are available for residents and workers of Barking and Dagenham. Come along outside Barking Library in Barking Town Square on the first and third Thursday of the month any time between 10.30am-4.30pm. Whether your bicycle needs a tune up, your brakes / gears tweaking, or you would just like some advice, feel free to bring along your bicycle and visit the mechanics on hand.
Free Adult Cycle Training
Free cycle training is available to all residents and workers within the borough, delivered by qualified local Cycle Instructors to National Standards level 1,2 and 3. No matter whether you are learning to ride, returning to cycling, wish to gain more confidence, check out local routes or get advice on route planning, we can help.

Where to ride
Barking & Dagenham is a great place to cycle. The borough was awarded Biking Borough status by the Mayor of London in 2010, and cycling journeys within the borough are continuing to increase, with more people choosing to ride their bikes to work, school, and for fun.
There are lots of good routes for cyclists in the borough. You'll find a route map of the area's cycle lanes on the council's website.
