Cycling in Wiltshire

Wiltshire is a great place to cycle, and now there are even more opportunities to get out and about on your bike in the area.

This year Wiltshire is hosting a series of Sky Ride Locals – organised rides supported by British Cycling Ride Leaders. Keep an eye out for Social Cycling Groups, and Breeze bike rides for women too!

Cycling support

Cycling is the ideal way to explore Wiltshire’s glorious countryside. It’s easy to see why so much of the county is designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty - rolling hills with spectacular views, peaceful wooded river valleys and prehistoric sites abound.

Wiltshire Council have developed a cycling proficiency programme, Bikeability designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to ride their bikes on today’s busy roads and encourage children to lead a healthier and more active lifestyle.

Where to cycle

Cycling in Wiltshire's peaceful, glorious countryside will show you rural England at its very best. The Wiltshire cycleway threads its way through Wiltshire along quiet country lanes and passes many of the county's most attractive places to visit. The 160 mile cycle route is supplemented by a network of shorter loops offering a wide choice of distance and terrain.
